Conduct site level field studies to determine
current conditions of natural communities such
as performed by
MNFI.
Compile lists of existing natural habitats,
information on native species that may be found
and brief ecological site summaries
In order to understand the sginificance of high
quality natural areas more professional field
studies are needed to provide accurate
documentation. To date, Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) delineation and basic prioritization
of natural areas has been produced by the
Livingston County Planning Department
(More information can be found on the
Livingston County website)
Data provided by field-work will be mapped
and documented to provide tools for decision
makers and community members. Natural
areas will be more valued and recognized
through master plans and planning for
specific developments. The results of this
project will prompt more responsible actions
from citizens and local governments for protecting
natural areas, clean water, and clean air.
